The Rebate Process WITHOUT Nebrasky

1. Determine the type of rebate based on your installation.

2. Take measurements of:

    • Each room in the home
    • The exterior of the home 

3. Create a Manual J using a software, online program, or paying a contractor or freelancer. Your Manual J must include: 

    • Window & door types & sizes
    • Elevation & geographic location
    • Insulation type & rating
    • Age of home

4. Determine the right sized heat pump required to heat and cool your home within NYS guidelines.

5. Determine if your desired heat pump model qualifies. 

6. Find the right Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and Northeast Energy Efficiency Partners (NEEP) documents required for your desired heat pump model.

7. Enter Manual J and NEEP information into the NYS rebate calculator to determine your rebate amount.

8. Fill out Utility Acknowledgement Form with necessary info (form must be signed by homeowner and certified installer). 

9. Fill out the NYS Decommissioning checklist, if applicable (form must be signed by homeowner and certified installer). Determine which section to fill out per the guidelines on page one. 

10. Take photos of your system before, during (if applicable), and after the process. A list of required photos is below, depending on which installation type you’ve chosen.

Full Load

BEFORE:
Existing equipment:

  • Oil tank
  • Furnace
  • Boiler
  • Water heater
  • Air handler
  • Electrical panel
  • Heat pump location

AFTER:

  • New equipment installed (far shot)
    • Inside & out
  • New equipment tags (close-up)
    • Inside & out
  • Thermostat
    • Required for integrated controls rebate project

NOTE: All photos must include time and date stamps to be accepted on application; all photos need to be clear enough to read all codes on products.

 

Decommissioning

BEFORE:
Existing equipment:

  • Oil tank
  • Furnace
  • Boiler
  • Water heater
  • Air handler
  • Electrical panel
  • Heat pump location

DURING:

  • Equipment removed/empty space
  • Equipment in dumpster (with tag)

AFTER:

  • Capped gas or oil line
  • Space with oil tank removed/oil tank decommissioned
  • New equipment installed (far shot)
    • Inside & out
  • New equipment tags (close-up)
    • Inside & out
  • Thermostat
    • Required for integrated controls rebate project

NOTE: All photos must include time and date stamps to be accepted on application; all photos need to be clear enough to read all codes on products.

11. Create an account on the NYS Clean Heat Program site and follow the steps below to submit your rebate (must be submitted within 60 days of installation). 

    • Enter utility account info
    • Enter Manual J info 
      • Heating load
      • Cooling load
      • Dry bulb temperatures
      • Wet bulb temperatures
      • Square footage 
    • Enter Home detail
      • Year built
      • Residential type
      • Fossil fuel & heating system type
    • Enter Equipment information
      • AHRI # 
      • Cooling capacity
      • Heating capacity
      • Model number
      • Serial number
    • Upload Documents
      • Acknowledgement Form
      • Decommissioning Form (if applicable)
      • Manual J
      • NEEP
      • Required photos (before, during after, tags, and/or decommissioning)
    • Submit Rebate

12. Wait two to eight weeks for the approval process to complete. You may have to revise your submission if requested from NYS, causing even more delays.
